Shoot the Bear.
Stop Press..... Due to the decision of ICMA'S Public Liability Insurer to decline renewal of ICMA's policy in 2002, ICMA has joined the Queensland Government Public Liability Insurance Scheme. The Not-for-profit Organisation Scheme insurer does not cover ICMA's archery activitites. As such, ICMA is unable to undertake any activity involving archery such as "Shoot the Bear".
ICMA was well known for the 'Shoot the Bear' archery stall. The stall provided participants with a hands on opportunity to use a bow and arrow at many fayres, events and schools in South East Queensland.
ICMA utilised a number of three dimensional, life size targets. As the name suggests, the main target was a life size black bear standing at over 1.8 metres tall. Other targets included a boar, pig and hares. Quite often you would find an armoured Knight on the range willing to be a target too!
Shoot the Bear was a regular participant at events such as The Abbey Medieval Tournament and Brisbane Medieval Fayre & Tournament - see the Upcoming Medieval Events page for details.
The archery stall used rubber tipped arrows in a self contained archery range approximately 40 metres x 10 metres.
Over the years, ICMA has introduced thousands of children and adults to the sport of Archery.
