Subject: Hi
My name is Steven Dell and I lived in Woomera from 1968 to '73 and did my high school there. I have two sisters and a brother (Janet, Wendy and Gary) who also went to school there. My parents Tom and Joyce stayed until 1980 when they moved to NSW if any one who may remember us, drop a line to my e-mail address below.
Thanks,
Gibbers

Does anyone out there remember when the Vegamites Men's Softball team actually beat the Village Club team for the Woomera championship in 1978?
We Vegamites were a mixed bag of Yanks, Aussies, and a Brit or two. I remember some of the blokes' names: Kelly Wingate played centerfield (he married Anne Davenport and they live outside Adelaide). We had an old USAF Chief playing first (Ron Kalbfliesch, I think); I played second. The village dentist (another Keith) played third base. We had a heck of a time convincing a cricket player to wear a glove.
Since the Village team was 100% Yanks, we weren't given much of a chance . . . we stomped um'. Our coach was a little short USAF Lt. Colonel that served there from July 1976 - July 1978. He would pace up and down the side lines swearing we were killing him. I worked in the computer maintenance shop with folks like John Bondch (wife Sue), RAAF Corporal Roy Crabb (wife Beryl), Keith Harris (wife Pat), and others. How I miss those poker parties after our last Swing or Mid-Shift.

Subject: The good old days
HELP, help. I need lots. I am attempting this for my husband who apparently has gone shy (can you believe it ?). In as much as I can gather, 1965 - 72 are the years and names of yesteryear are:
Keith Hodder, Andrew and Chris Morris, the Gee boys, John Hattersley and the coach of Magpie Footy team Bob Spooner. None of these names are familiar to me and I would like to rectify this, along with all the others that made great memories, good times and loads of laughs in my husband's younger days.
We now live in Adelaide with twenty years Army under the bridge and heaps of yarns to spin with any one that knew the above mentioned and Andrew, my supposedly "shy" other half. Me' I can talk with a mouth full of marbles under water and look forward to a response and even more to my visit to Woomera on the June long weekend.
Ciao for now,
Andrew and Cheryl HORNE

Subject: Woomera memories
I discovered your memories site by chance and find it very interesting.
The reason for my interest is because my uncle was working there around the sixties time.
My reason for writing to you is contact was lost with my uncle and his whereabouts from then on is not known. If anyone who worked at the Woomera Base remembers Ned (Edwin Barrass) Bradley who came from the North East of England around that time, I would love to hear from them.
He would have been in his mid-30's and had previously served in the British Army and seen action in Korea. He was 5'10-6' tall, slim build and had brown-auburn, wavy-curly hair.
I live in the Nottingham area of England and therefore it is very difficult for me to search for any evidence of my uncle's whereabouts, so any information will be gratefully received.
Thank you for your kind attention.

We have one son, Benjamin, a sophmore in College. I have one sister, Margaret, and three brothers - Ross, Colin and Ian (all the boys were born at Woomera). If anyone remembers us, please feel free to e-mail me.

Subject: Novel about Woomera
My
novel THE WOOMERA TRAP is available now on line from Jacobyte Books,
as an electronic download, on floppy disk, CD, and as a print-on-demand
paperback. There is a picture of the cover - a rocket after lift-off -
on their web page and you can read two chapters without having to buy.
The book can be ordered directly on line at: Jacobyte Books , http://www.jacobytebooks.com/
Type "Woomera" in the search box at the web site.
Or if anyone interested would like to talk to me about it, I can be contacted at the e-mail address below.
The novel is set in the 1960s, written from a wife's point of view and should bring back memories to many who were there and also might interest those who came later.
I'm currently writing A WOOMERA STORM which is from the husband's point of view. I shall be very interested in hearing from ex-Woomera-ites who may have been there between 1960 and 1968.
Best wishes,
Jean Brooks
